22 years old Muna Abdirahman Abase graduated from the USAID funded
Shaqodoon/SYLP program. Muna enrolled on Bulsho TV’s six month Film Making and
TV Production Training program. Muna, a brilliant and ambitious girl in the
film making and TV production industry undertook the 6 months course with Bulsho
TV at the beginning of this year. During her training, Muna showed a keen
interest in the course by wholeheartedly studying the necessary skills in
camera and photography, video capturing and editing, and TV productions skills
in general.
Muna is very confident in putting her skills to use at work and she is
always grateful for her instructors at Bulsho TV. “I am very happy whenever I get the opportunity to take another
step-forward in the field of media and I always thank my teachers at Bulsho TV
as they offered me the skills I have
today”, Said Muna.
Muna Abdirahman is now working with Hadhwanaag news a local web based
news group in Hargeisa, where she was offered a full-time job. Because of her
tremendous knowledge, she continues to offer her indispensable skills to Bulsho
TV where she graduated.

years old Arafat Warsame Barre is one of
the Bulsho TV trainees under the Shaqodoon/SYLP training program in Burao,
Togdheer region. Soon after gaining admission into the TV production skills
training course offered by Bulsho TV, he was identified to be one of the most
promising students, with his instructors lauding him as a brilliant and
innovative student. After 6 months of training, he was placed at Bulsho TV and
later confirmed as a full time employee of the TV station. His colleagues in
Bulsho TV can attest to the fact that Arafat is not only good with the camera,
but that he also has good computer literacy skills, being familiar with many
software applications used for video capturing and editing skills that he
acquired during training.
Coming
from a poor family in Burao, Arafat felt he would never get the chance achieve
his dream of TV production. As a child, he had always dreamed of being behind
the screens and working the magic that brings the pictures on the silver screens.
His family’s poverty did not help matters. Amazingly, this training opportunity
came just in time to quench his thirst for these skills.
He
believes that he gained a unique chance to realize his dream. “It
was an exclusive training opportunity for us, because such an opportunity has
never been found or I have never seen training like this, which offers video
editing, in Burao”. Arafat said.
Arafat takes part in the station’s daily tasks, including news preparation. He
is known to exert fresh energy in every task he takes part in and has a keen
sense of responsibility. His major tasks include integrating sounds with videos
and co-preparing TV programs, always confidently applying his skills.
“I
am happy with the way things are going on, I am always motivated to do more in
this job and I want to improve my quality of video production,” Arafat said. He expressed his gratitude for his instructors
saying, ” I would like to thank my honorable instructors those who enabled me to
climb up the ladder to get to where I am. It is a great privilege to be able to
work by offering useful skills that can help us to engage our livelihoods’’.
He is also grateful to Bulsho TV and EDC.
Arafat’s
employer, Eng. Ali Farah Harbi who is the founder and managing director of
Bulsho TV, he believes that the good quality and effective work performance of
our trainees is the most successful indicator of the achievement of training
objectives. “It’s a great and fruitful outcome from Shaqodoon training because Mr.
Arafat is a dynamic and self-motivated employee who has truly helped us and
uplifted our program qualities” Mohamed British, a TV reporter said.
