22 years old Muna Abdirahman Abase graduated from the USAID funded
Shaqodoon/SYLP program. Muna enrolled on Bulsho TV’s six month Film Making and
TV Production Training program. Muna, a brilliant and ambitious girl in the
film making and TV production industry undertook the six months course with Bulsho
TV at the beginning of this year. During her training, Muna showed a keen
interest in the course by wholeheartedly studying the necessary skills in
camera and photography, video capturing and editing, and TV productions skills

SOCWE Graduation Ceremony

On June 11, 2011, a graduation ceremony for 527 SOCWE trainees took
place at Hotel Bakin in Mogadishu. The even
t was to celebrate with and award
certificates to the trainees who finished training courses at SOCWE in
partnership with Education Development Center .Inc(EDC).
The ceremony was attended by members from Transitional Federal
Institutions, civil Society actors, universities, parents EDC and SOCWE

Coca Cola’s Newest Home; Somaliland!

The
Shaqodoon program has recently been discussing a partnership with
Somaliland Beverage Industries (SBI), a licensed Coca Cola Bottling
company based in Hargeisa, Somaliland, to streamline SBI’s upcoming
recruitment activities. By far, the SBI venture represents the largest
single business investment to take place within Somaliland, and is
expected to eventually inject numerous job opportunities into the local

InfoMatch Accessibility Expanded
Shaqodoon has recently established
a new partnership with Nationlink telecommunication company, and
following months of intensive work and collaboration between Nationlink,
Souktel, and EDC teams, the SMS and Voice based InfoMatch system was
finally media launched in Hargeisa on May 15th, 2011. The new
partnership tremendously broadens InfoMatch’s existing network hosted
by Telesom and Golis telecommunication companies and will
single-handly reach 60% of Shaqodoon’s total users across the entire
Somali regions. As a result, all registered Shaqodoon youth can now gain
access to upcoming trainings and work opportunities via the InfoMatch

BioSand Filters, Simple Yet Effective and Life Saving Technology

Biofit Aid Organization, a Shaqodoon implementing partners based
in Puntland, is spearheading the use of sustainable water purification
systems in Somalia in the form of BioSand filters. The BioSand filter is
simple and costs little to assemble and maintain, and is very effective
