Shaqodoon’s 6-Day Annual Staff Workshop 2025: Reflecting, Aligning, and Building the Future
Mogadishu, Somalia — July 2025
In an inspiring show of unity, learning, and forward-thinking, Shaqodoon Organization recently concluded a transformative six-day Annual Review and Staff Workshop in Mogadishu. The workshop brought together staff from across all Shaqodoon offices and regions — including Hargeisa, Garowe, Nairobi, Baidoa, and Jowhar — representing the organization’s work across Somaliland, Puntland, Hirshabelle, South West State, and Banadir.
This annual gathering served as a powerful platform for collective reflection, knowledge sharing, and strategic planning, with the goal of ensuring that every staff member is aligned with the organization’s evolving mission, vision, and goals.
"Our growth is built on our people. This week has shown how powerful we are when we come together." — Mustafa Othman, Executive Director
Reflecting on the Past, Strategizing for the Future
The workshop marked a critical milestone in reviewing Shaqodoon’s outgoing five-year strategy, taking stock of achievements, challenges, and missed opportunities. The sessions provided space for honest discussions on what worked, what didn’t, and what could be done better.
More importantly, the week fostered a participatory approach in shaping the organization's next five-year strategy. Staff from all departments actively contributed to the development of new strategic priorities that will guide Shaqodoon’s mission to empower youth and communities through innovation, job creation, and civic engagement.
Reinforcing Organizational Alignment
To ensure everyone across the organization is moving in the same direction, key sessions focused on reaffirming Shaqodoon’s vision, mission, and values. Presentations showcased current programs and innovations, particularly in Technology for Development (T4D) — highlighting tools and platforms developed to expand Shaqodoon’s impact.
Departments including Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning), Communications, and T4D each led interactive sessions. These provided essential updates, policy refreshers, and skill-building workshops designed to equip staff with knowledge and tools for excellence.
Participation, Recognition, and Team Spirit
Beyond presentations, the workshop was packed with group activities, problem-solving exercises, and breakout sessions, encouraging cross-functional collaboration and peer learning.
A key highlight was the Annual Staff Awards Ceremony, where outstanding team members were recognized in eight categories. The awards served to celebrate dedication, innovation, and team spirit across the organization.
"This wasn’t just a workshop—it was a reminder of who we are, why we do what we do, and how far we’ve come together."
A Renewed Commitment to Impact
The workshop concluded with a renewed sense of energy, alignment, and purpose. Staff left Mogadishu with actionable takeaways, stronger interdepartmental relationships, and a shared commitment to achieving Shaqodoon’s goals over the next five years.
As the organization enters this new phase of growth and strategy, one thing is clear: Shaqodoon’s strength lies in its people, and together, they are ready to take on the future.
