Shaqodoon Showcases Digital Innovation and Launches “Namaqal AI” at Somaliland Tech Expo 2025

Shaqodoon Organization participated in the Somaliland Tech Expo 2025, presenting its portfolio of digital innovation initiatives and officially launching Namaqal, a new AI-powered Somali speech-to-text platform. The event brought together government institutions, tech innovators, and development partners focused on advancing digital transformation in Somaliland.
Namaqal is designed to automatically transcribe spoken Somali into accurate written text, with the ability to support translation and documentation across multiple fields. The platform aims to improve efficiency for media professionals, students, educators, researchers, service providers, and government agencies that frequently work with audio-based communication and reporting.
Representatives from Shaqodoon emphasized that Namaqal reflects the organization’s long-term commitment to developing Somali-language digital tools that are practical, inclusive, and scalable. By applying machine learning and natural language processing technology, Namaqal contributes to preserving and advancing the use of Somali language in the digital era.
At the Expo, Shaqodoon also highlighted several ongoing digital solutions:
M-Dalag – A platform supporting farmers with access to agricultural information and services.
Saadaal – A data insights and market forecasting tool to support informed economic decision-making.
Imaqal – A voice-based service that expands access to learning and information resources.
Digital Skills and Training Programs – Equipping youth with job-ready technology skills and connecting them with employment opportunities.
During the exhibition, the President of the Republic of Somaliland visited the Shaqodoon booth, where the team demonstrated the functionalities of Namaqal and other solutions. The visit underscored the growing recognition of local innovation and the role of technology in national development.
