Challenge
The training facilities are inadequate for the at-risk youth in Somalia.
Project Goals
Consultancy is to set up the first two vocational training courses at the Centre, which are appropriate to existing livelihoods opportunities in the area of foreseen reintegration of defectors.
Key Activities
To setup two TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) training courses
Create ABE curriculum (Levels 1 to 4)
Train teachers on all aspects concerning content of the ABE curriculum (Level 1 to 4)
Produce tailored-to-context BLN course in Somali, including syllabus and lessons content, teaching aid, and additional teaching resources as reference
Impact
Set up the first two vocational training courses at the Centre, which are appropriate to existing livelihoods opportunities in the area of foreseen reintegration of defectors.
Latest version of the ABE curriculum (Levels 1 to 4) isprovided, including curriculum per each subject, teaching guide, implementation guidelines, students’ textbooks, list of teaching aid and additional teaching resources of reference.
Teachers are in full command of all aspects concerning content of the ABE curriculum (Level 1 to 4), which includes structure of the syllabus per each subject, time allocation of the specific subjects, assessments and exam preparation, organization of timetables.
A tailored-to-context BLN course in Somali is produced, including syllabus and lessons content, teaching aid and additional teaching resources as reference.
Teachers are in full command of all aspects concerning content of the course, which includes course objectives, entry requirements, time allocation, syllabus structure and content, lessons content (included of practical exercises templates linked to the lessons), test framework (at entrance and exit levels).
Trained teachers are able and confident to organize and deliver in all its aspects the BYB and Work preparedness course (level 3) at the Centre.
A tailored-to-context BYB and Work preparedness course in Somali is produced, including syllabus and lessons content, teaching aid and additional teaching resources to be used as additional reference.
Enhance quality of vocational training provision via developing syllabuses, learning organization and training content of four existing courses.
To consolidate all aspects of service provision for the ongoing VET courses via enhancing the use of adopted VET Training Guidelines and syllabi.
