Challenge
Complaints line for beneficiaries of DRC project activities. Beneficiaries of DRC are sometime 10s of thousand and needed a way to directly engage all beneficiaries through mobile technology.
Project Goals
To hear the voices of beneficiaries using a toll free three digital number connected to all Telecommunication companies in Somalia.
Key Activities
Establish a three digit toll free short code with all Somali telecom operators including Telesom, Golis, Hormuud, Nationalink (before it was dissolved) and Somtel. Establish an SMS and IVR gateway for DRC. Develop SMS and IVR feedback application to receive realtime free back from beneficiaries on the ground, Send bulk SMS and Voice messages directly to beneficiaries mobile numbers.
Impact
Matching toll free short code activated in all telecoms. SMS and IVR gateway established and hosted at the telecom sites. Rolled out to communities through out Somalia and Somaliland. Train DRC staff on managing the platform, Platforms developed. Received million of messages through the platform.
