SomReP: Consolidating Resilience Gains in Somalia

Challenge

Increase the resilience of chronically vulnerable Somali people, households, communities and systems to recurrent climatic shocks. The Somalia Resilience Program (SomReP) is a consortium made up of seven international Non-governmental Organizations (INGOs): AAH, ADRA, CARE, COOPI, DRC, Oxfam and World Vision, which was formed following the famine of 2011 to find better ways to leverage collective sectoral expertise and long-standing relationships with communities to tackle the challenges which recurrent shocks pose for families in Somalia

Project Goals

Contribute to the resilience of chronically vulnerable Somali people, households, communities and systems through enhanced food security, sustainable livelihoods and strengthened disaster risk management capacities in affected areas in Southwest State by 2023.

Key Activities

The project will work with 43 communities in Southern Somalia. 25 villages in Baidoa and 18 villages in Afgoye

Impact

This is an ongoing project. By the end of the project, the goal is to realize 16 infrastructure projects, fully financed by community contributions and matching funds.
